The first day you will spend doing nothing but acclimatize yourself. It is very essential unless you want to remain altitude sick for the entire trip. The next day you will venture out for some local sightseeing around Leh by visiting the beautiful and old Alchi monastery, stopping at the Magnetic Hill where you will experience your car move upwards against the gravity!! Also halt at the confluence of Zanskar and Indus rivers near Nimmu, visit the interesting Gurudwar Pathar Sahib and the Hall of Fame. The next day you will go on a "not to be missed" trip to Pangong-Tso driving through Chang-la the 3rd highest motorable road in the world. Camp overnight, on the shores of this stunning lake and return to Leh next day visiting the Hemis monastery en-route.

Drive to the world's highest motorable pass - "Khardund-La" an exhilarating experience!! On return to Leh visit the white domed Shanti Stupa which provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. At Leh be lost in its serenity, awestruck by its natural beauty that could leave you longing for more!!

Detailed Itinerary:


On your arrival to Leh by morning flight you will be transferred to your hotel by one of our representatives. Today you will spend the complete day resting to acclimatize to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 ft / 35 00 mtrs). A day's acclimatization is very much needed and recommended to avoid any altitude sickness during your entire trip.

DAY 02: Excursion to Sham Valley

After your breakfast drive to Alchi monastery one of the oldest and most significant monasteries in Ladakh. Enroute visit Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, and confluence of Zanskar and Indus rivers. Once at Alchi spend time seeing the wooden architecture of this monastery that dates back to 1020 AD. Interact with the monks for first hand detail of this place. After having seen Alchi head back to Leh stopping on the way at the Hall of Fame museum. This army museum holds several artifacts from the Kargil war and various equipments/kits required to survive this treacherous region of India. You will be spellbound to know what it takes to protect our country.

After breakfast begin your drive to Pangong Tso which falls on the Indo China border. Enroute you can visit the Shey Palace and Thikse Gompa, one of the most picturesque monastery in Leh. The drive to Pangong will take you across some of the most beautiful landscapes in Ladakh driving through Changla Pass (3rd highest motorable road), the journey is made more beautiful by the small streams that run along the road, lush green pastures where you can see horses, yaks and pashmina sheep grazing. Arrive at the lake and check in to your camp. Walk by the shore of the lake see the numerous prayer stones that have been put by people and view the beautiful sunset.

Wake up early this morning as you do not want to miss the sunrise at Pangong. Just be watchful while you are admiring the first set of sunray that come over the mountain beyond the lake, you don't miss the mystical view that these rays create on the mountains behind you. After having your breakfast and spending some more time at the lake start your leisurely drive back to Leh. En-route visit the Hemis monastery, one of the biggest and important monastery in Leh.

Today - head to the Khardung-la top to have a magnificent view of the surrounding valleys. The Khardung pass (La) is considered to be the world's highest motorable road at an altitude of approximately 18,600 ft. The pass is of great strategic importance to India as it is the main supply line to Siachen, India's highest army base. This is the highest point in the world where Maggie is cooked and served. Apart from clicking photos of the breathtaking view you might also want to savor a maggie here. After spending some time here return back to Leh and relax. In the evening take a small round trip to Shanti Stupa for the beautiful sunset view over the entire Leh Valley.

Additional Information about the Destinations

Sigiriya Citadel

Leh the capital of the kingdom of Ladakh is one of the coldest deserts in the world (altitude 3500mt or 11,500ft). The area is bounded by two of the world's largest mountain ranges by height, the Himalayan and the Karakoram Range. Surrounded by alpine desert, dry barren landscape, historic Buddhist monasteries makes Leh an incredible sight to behold. Some of the most popular monasteries/monuments are Shanti Stupa, Hemis Gompa (the wealthiest, oldest and most important monastery in Ladakh), Thiksey Gompa, Stok Palace. Leh serves as an entry point to the Ladakh region and acts as the base camp to explore this region.

Pangong Tso

Pangong Tso is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m (14,270 ft). The road to Pangong takes you through some of the most beautiful ravines with small streams flowing along the road. On the way you will see numerous mountain horses, yaks and pashmina sheep grazing the green grass along the brooks. This crystal clear lake is 134 km long and extends from India to Tibet, 60% of the length of the lake lies in China and the actual line of control between India and China passes through the lake, you can still many bunkers created by the Indian army during the earlier wars with China. Do make sure to see the sunrise at shores of the lake if you stay overnight at Pangong. The lake completely freezes in winters.
